The air you breathe can have a big impact on your health. Most of us spend more time indoors and the air inside your home can be more polluted than the air outdoors according to the Environmental Protection Agency. Things to consider that potentially pollute indoor air are: building materials, cleaning products, air fresheners and unvented appliances. Here are simple ways purify the air inside your home!

1. Open your windows! This will help alleviate the accumulation of air pollutants inside your home. Even leaving your window open for just 5 minutes can have a big impact!

2. Many essential oils have antibacterial properties. Tea Tree, eucalyptus, peppermint, and orange oils have antibacterial properties. doTERRA also has proprietary blends to help refresh your space: Purify, Air-X and OnGuard.
Diffusing these oils can help purify your indoor air, fight dust mites while simultaneously freshening up your home without the harmful chemicals in most air fresheners.

3. Cook with oils with higher smoke points. Smoke is also a major indoor air pollution. Refined avocado oil has a smoke point of 520 F and refined or light olive oil has a smoke point of 465 F. Coconut oil is at 450 F while grapeseed and extra virgin olive oil is at 400 F. Also consider opening a window while you are cooking to help air flow while you are cooking.

4. House Plants! Plants can filter out harmful toxins and help clean the air. Spider plants, Peace Lily and Snake Plants are great starter plants that do not need a lot of attention.
